Opening Night

It was chaos, but it was still fun.  The room was almost bouncing on its foundation, in the old building on West 47th Street.

The four plays that had opened that night had sent their elated audiences straight to the opening night of Bar Babuino.  Of course it was no more a bar in the Italian sense than the grill at the Grosvenor House was a grill.

As the people poured in, they were welcomed by a soft Mediterranean breeze wafting across brilliant murals and nestling long umber curtains giving way to a palm lined piazza.
